scfh (6.6 Nm3/hr) to over 200,000 scfh (5,300 Nm3/hr) of nitrogen. Plants with oxygen capacities in excess of 10, 000 scfh h (260 Nm3/hr) are available with argon producing equipment.
These plants produce oxygen and nitrogen by tractional distillation of atmospheric air. This is the only practical process for producing high purity oxygen and nitrogen particularly if liquid products are required.
Oxygen and nitrogen producing plants are primarily used by industrial gas companies producing oxygen and nitrogen for sale. Other markets for our plants include companies using oxygen or nitrogen in sufficient quantities to justify the installation of an on site plant, and the military market.
Since its inception, American Air Plants has used computers extensively. This helps us to standardize procedures, reduce overhead and improve our service to customers. Our computer applications range from the purely technical, such as distillation column calculations, to cost estimating and inventory control. Our larger plants are supplied with microprocessors for automatic control and for data processing.
Key personnel at American Air Plants all have extensive experience in the business of supplying air separation plants. There is no excessive overhead yet the knowledge for designing, building and starting up such plants is present.
